Wiltshire Walking Football

Wiltshire Walking Football

Numbers so far this year are booming, attendances are up and record numbers at most sessions in the first couple of weeks. Due to this we have now had Corsham, Trowbridge and Calne agree to extending the sessions by 30 mins to accommodate playing 3 teams rolling on and off.

Corsham has already proved to be a fantastic addition, we have had 6 brand new faces to Walking Football already, basically one or two every week. Chippenham is also seeing a high level of attendance, regularly attracting 15 players there, split into 3 teams rolling on and off which is working well and the new session at Devizes has started very well, averaging 9 a week so hopefully will continue to grow.

Walking Football is a great advert for health and fitness as well as providing the opportunity to stay in touch with the game well into later years. It’s the same game that you know and love, but at a slower pace, enabling people with previous injuries, health issues or simple older age, to get involved and play! Brian, aged 64, says, ‘Walking Football brings back the memories of youth without most of the pain associated with exercise.’
