Walking is being celebrated in Wiltshire during the first week of September with a number of activities and events being held.
Walking has been proven to support improvements in health, is really easy to get started, you don’t need any specialist equipment, its free and it’s a great way to explore new routes and paths as well as potentially meeting like-minded people along the way!
Get Wiltshire Walking(GWW) is the walking programme in Wiltshire that offers 90 minute health walks in every community area of the county. Accredited to the national Walking for Health scheme, GWW provides free, weekly walks which usually end with a tea or coffee in a local café and as such is as much about the social element of meeting people as it is about health.
Throughout Walking Festival week there will be the opportunity to join Get Wiltshire Walking walk leaders on evening walks that will start at 6pm in Warminster (Mon 6 Sept), Ludgershall (Tues 7 Sept), Royal Wootton Bassett (Weds 9 Sept), Trowbridge & Devizes (Thurs 10 Sept), and Durrington (Fri 11 Sept).
These walks will trace routes provided by the walking groups in these areas and give you a chance to get involved and enjoy a walk after work!
