Sign up for local Police alerts

You can now sign up for free messages – by email, text and voicemail – about policing and crime matters in your area by joining Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging.

Commissioner Angus Macpherson and Wiltshire Police are committed to involving communities in the prevention and reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour. Working alongside Neighbourhood Watch, Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging aims to improve the flow of information between communities and the police.

After beginning its roll out in August 2014, Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging will be live in all neighbourhood policing areas as of 02 February 2015.

When signing up you choose how you wish to receive information – by email, text or voicemail. You can also choose the organisations that you get information from, how regularly you can receive messages and the type of information you receive. You can change your preferences any time by logging-in to your account.

Examples of messages that you may receive when joining Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging include community policing news and events, appeals for information, crime prevention advice and outcomes of court cases relating to incidents in your area.

You can also reply to messages, feeding back information to your local neighbourhood officers to help them in policing your local area.

When signing up for Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging, you can also choose to join like-minded people by becoming part of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in your area or request to start a new one.

Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging is part of a national system called Neighbourhood Alert, which is used by national Neighbourhood Watch and other police forces. In the future you will be able to receive messages from other voluntary watch schemes and public sector agencies via Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging.

Joining Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging is quick, simple and free. There are no contracts, costs or obligations of any kind for anyone who signs up.

Wiltshire and Swindon Community Messaging is being commissioned by the PCC in line with his priorities in the Police and Crime Plan and commitment to involving communities and volunteers in the reduction and prevention of crime and anti-social behaviour.
