The Health & Wellbeing Group met last night to input into Wiltshire Council’s and the Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s consultation on a revised strategy for End of Life Care. The group also committed to 3 key priorities that will focus its work and influence its funding recommendations to the Salisbury Area Board over the next 3 years. The priorities have been shaped over the past 6 months, and have been informed by the refreshed data from the Wiltshire Joint Strategic Needs Assessment. They are:
- men’s health (for the over 65s)
- mental health of unpaid carers (over 65s)
- identifying the under-represented groups in Salisbury and discerning a plan that more effectively targets their health and wellbeing needs
The health and wellbeing group consists of a wide spectrum of representatives from Salisbury, including Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Salisbury Hospital, local GPs and pharmacists, older people, carers, local councils, mental health charities, churches, samaritans, citizen’s advice and the fire and rescue service. It’s main remit is to strengthen the infrastructure of support for Salisbury residents aged over 55 and for all vulnerable adults, to ensure their health and wellbeing needs are being met.
