Nearly £40k committed for local projects by Salisbury Area Board

Last night, councillors and over 50 people gathered to discuss a range of topics dear to Salisbury – dementia, how the new visitors parking permits may impact upon residents, particularly the elderly, and the funding needs of a number of local organisations who are busy working to put on events or initiatives to improve social cohesion and provide positive activities for our residents.

Nearly £40k was approved, benefiting young people in Bemerton Heath, old people wishing to use exercise and dance to enhance their health and wellbeing, a table tennis club, young people learning circus skills, a number of community facilities to purchase much needed new equipment,  and a range of street art projects to brighten up some of the city’s less attractive spots.

Just over £70k remains for the rest of the financial year for community projects, youth projects, health and wellbeing projects and local transport schemes.  Contact Karen Linaker on 01722 434697 for more details on how to apply.
