The meadow above Lime Kiln Way was recently designated as a County Wildlife Site and is due to be transferred to the ownership of Salisbury City Council in the near future. It will then be managed as a Local Nature Reserve for the benefit of the community and the wildlife that can be found there. In the meantime scrub is encroaching across much of the site which will gradually lead to the loss of open grassland which supports a wealth of wildflowers and butterflies.
In the New Year volunteers will be working to clear scrub, open up the pathways and improve access. Everyone is welcome. All tools will be provided. Please wear suitable clothing and bring a mug for hot drinks. The work days are:
- Tuesdays – January 12th, February 9th and March 8th (9.30am – 1pm)
- Saturdays – January 9th, February 13th and March 12th (10am – 3pm)
Meet at the Play Area in the Recreation Ground off Andrews Way, SP2 8QR. Car parking is available nearby, or meet us on site if arriving after the start time.
