The Salisbury Area Board meeting was well attended last night for public scrutiny with Highways England (HE) over the A36 (Southampton Rd). Over an hour was committed to this discussion which unearthed HE’s plans to carry out further studies on this route in an attempt to identify what can be done to ease congestion, improve traffic flow and mitigate against associated concerns re. air quality, the impact on the local economy and flooding.
Channels of communication between the area board, the city council and HE appeared to gain a securer footing as a consequence of this constructive public scrutiny last night.
The HE will return to subsequent area board meetings in 2017 with updates on this route study.
