Thousands of families gathered at Churchill Gardens this week to celebrate National Play Day. The event was organised by Salisbury City Council and was a fabulous opportunity to engage with all ages in a fun packed day which included face painting, street art demonstrations, bouncy castles, craft workshops, fair ground rides and more.
Also at the event were demonstrations of a new physical activity coming to Salisbury later this year – walking netball. 14 (I think it fair to say – “mature”) ladies (including myself!) took part in the demonstrations organised by Wiltshire Council’s Sports Development Team. This is a great new sport aimed at those needing to take part in low impact, moderate activity, and is a fabulous way to socialise and meet new friends. The hope is that it will attract older people in Salisbury to come and take part in an activity that keeps them fit and combats social isolation.
