Free insulation offer for Wiltshire residents

Free insulation offer for Wiltshire residents

With the colder weather here, Wiltshire residents are being given the opportunity to improve heating in their home for free, thanks to grant funding which is available immediately.

Wiltshire Council’s Warm and Safe Programme means eligible homeowners or privately-renting tenants in Wiltshire can have cavity wall insulation installed in their home, free of charge – making their home much warmer and cosier, and cutting their fuel bills.

There has been a huge demand for assistance with the cost of insulating properties, so residents are being encouraged to act swiftly in order to benefit from the current offer.

The available funding is for cavity wall and loft insulation which tackles the problem of cold homes and excessive expenditure on fuel bills for residents in Wiltshire. As an example, residents in an average semi-detached house could save £295 a year on their fuel bills.

Maggie Rae, Wiltshire Council corporate director, said: “Cold temperatures can have such harmful effect on our health, particularly for older people, so it’s vital that our homes feel warm and safe.

“A well-insulated home makes a huge difference so I hope eligible people take up this offer and it helps them have a happy healthy winter.”

Keith Humphries, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for public health said; “This is a fantastic offer which will not only improve people’s homes, making it more comfortable, but will also reduce fuel bills.

“Having a well-insulated home can save hundreds of pounds but more importantly has lots of health benefits. I’d urge people to speak to the team to arrange a survey and see if they can benefit.”
