First World War Tunnels at Larkhill

A First World War practice battlefield had been completely lost to history before the excavations at Larkhill revealed trenches and tunnels, as well as things that the people using them left behind, from their signatures to food tins, ammunition and even a tin that once held an Australian brand of toffees. Assistant County Archaeologist Clare King, based at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre, Chippenham was involved with the excavations at Salisbury Plain and gives an insight into the fascinating finds.
