Delving into the Godolphin School Archive

Ally McConnell, Archivist at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre, Chippenham has recently finished cataloguing the fascinating archive of the Godolphin School, a girls’ only boarding and day school in Salisbury. The school was founded by the will of Elizabeth Godolphin and records date back to 1709. The archive includes many photographs which show a happy and diverse school life from the 19th century to almost the present day and is already proving to be a valuable resource for researchers doing family or local history.
