A brand new community space has been built for the Day Opportunities Services at the Five Rivers Health & Wellbeing Centre (formerly known as the Campus). At a recent coffee morning there, staff, customers and their parents and carers took the opportunity to tour the new centre, which will become home to this service from February 2016.
During the coffee morning, an informal naming ceremony was conducted, with the customers voting firmly in favour of “The Meadows” as the name of this service’s new home. The Meadows will be used by the service Monday to Friday during the day, and then available for general community use in the evenings and weekends. There is a sensory room, an accessible training kitchen, 2 fabulous multi-purpose activity rooms and full accessible toilets and personal care facilities. South Wiltshire’s Mencap charity will be using The Meadows from March 2016 for its new Horizon Club.
Comments from the customers and their carers included: “The old premises were like going back in time, your new building is welcoming and an inclusive part of the community; looking forward to seeing how the centre is going to be in the future.” “Just wonderful; at last a proper space for all to enjoy!”
