The Landmarc Cycle Wiltshire Grand Prix, part of British Cycling’s Elite Road Race Series Spring Cup, will be returning to Salisbury on Sunday, 8 May featuring some of Britain’s top cyclists. We are encouraging people to line the route to support the riders as they speed through Wiltshire’s beautiful countryside.
The race will start with a ceremonial roll out through Salisbury, with the actual racing starting in Wilton. The peloton will complete five laps of the circuit through Barford St Martin, Compton Chamberlayne, Fovant, Ebbesbourne Wake, Bishopstone and Broad Chalke, with riders taking on the challenging climb of Fovant Hill multiple times before heading back into Salisbury via Fisherton Street for the sprint finish.
There will be family-orientated cycling activities in Salisbury in Blue Boar Row and The Market Square from 11.30am until 2.30pm.
The team introductions will be at approximately 10am, the race roll out will be at around 11am, and the riders are expected to finish at approximately 3pm.
The Cycle Wiltshire Sportive will now take place on Sunday, 2 October, starting and finishing at the Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre, Hulse Road, Salisbury SP1 3NR.
The cycle event for a wide range of participants will form part of the wider opening programme for the health and wellbeing centre.
This is a wonderful community facility, and it is an ideal opportunity to promote everything the centre has to offer, alongside a fun sporting activity.
Anyone already signed up to the sportive originally scheduled to take place in May has been offered a refund, however we are sure most will take part on the revised date.
We will keep you up-to-date regarding the events at the Grand Prix and at Five Rivers as more details become available.
