Creation is Inspiration… Collecting and Celebrating Wiltshire’s Creativity

Here at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre we have an exciting opportunity to help the county’s museums, archives and local studies collect the best work of local people for the benefit of all to enjoy through the Heritage Lottery funded project Creative Wiltshire, supported by Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council.
We have already been acquiring some lovely examples of craftsmanship, such as ceramics by Katharine Pleydell-Bouverie, Trevor Chaplin, Robert Fournier, and the archive of the sculptor Roger Leigh. Paintings include the work of Nick Andrew and there are also etchings by Howard Phipps. Textiles come in the form of a blackbird design by Nancy Nicholson, and music is represented by a diverse range from Sir Michael Tippett to Jamie Cullum and XTC…
Who is your favourite Wiltshire artist, designer, sculptor, writer or musician? We’d love to hear your views so please tell us more! Contact Julie or Joy at localstudies@wiltshire.gov.uk
We also have some great volunteer opportunities on offer; please see creativewiltshire.com for details and to discover more about Creative Wiltshire.
