The Tenant by Concert Theatre Wed 24 May | Sarum College, Salisbury
A stunning combination of music and theatre bring to life Anne Brontë’s groundbreaking work The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Widely celebrated as one of the first feminist novels, we witness a woman’s valiant struggle for independence and creative freedom. In an innovative hybrid concert-theatre form, international pianist Diana Brekalo performs the music of Mozart (Violin Sonata No. 26), Scriabin (24 Preludes) and Brahms (Rhapsody) alongside two brilliant actors (Emily May Smith and Martin Bonger) in a modern gallery setting. Music and drama collide and compliment to offer new perspectives on Brontë’s radical text.
Concert Theatre is a music and theatre performance Company, creating new and exciting ways of presenting classical music with other art forms. Frustrated by the constraints and formalities of the traditional concert platform, Concert Theatre was set up by international pianist An-Ting Chang to entice and engage new audiences with classical music. We hope you can join us.
