For the last year or so now, the Salisbury Area Board and all who work in it, from residents, charities, schools, councillors, young people, old people, and so on, have been focusing on the priority of health and wellbeing. We have grants available for projects aiming to improve our health and wellbeing, we have monthly sub group meetings to focus on this topic, there are schools in Salisbury developing mindfulness techniques for pupils, and new social groups in the city starting up to offer support, friendship and positive activities for older people.
And so, on stumbling across the Oddfellows Society’s website, a 200 year old mutual society that exists to offer friendship, support and care (see earlier article publicising an Oddfellows event in Salisbury on the 25th November), it was affirming to see a link there to the longest study in the world that has recently published its findings on how we stay healthy and well.
Check it out here – it comes in the form of a Ted Talk, and is very heart-warming. Enjoy.
