An opportunity has arisen to recruit up to 3 part time Multi Sports Coaches to deliver SHINE Wiltshire, (Self Help Independence Nutrition and Exercise). Shine Wiltshire is a 10 week weight management programme developed for children aged 7-11 years, to empower them and their families to make the necessary changes to lead a healthier lifestyle. Each 2 hour weekly session, will include fun, practical activities that teach children and their families about nutrition, food groups, portion control, food labelling, physical activity, and making healthier choices a habit.
Reporting to the Health and Physical Activity Manager, you will have appropriate qualifications and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Physical Activity, Health, Nutrition, Education, Psychology.
We are seeking enthusiastic and creative applicants who are passionate about improving health and well-being. With proven communication skills and an ability to deliver to an audience of mixed ages and abilities, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering the SHINE Wiltshire programme. A team player you will also need to be able to function to the highest level independently and contribute significantly to the delivery and development of this key project.
Empathy, diplomacy and patience will be key attributes, in order to encourage participants to make significant lifestyle changes. You will need to be confident in your delivery of both theory and practical physical activity sessions to both children and parents.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake Shine training and continuous assessment and support will be available throughout the programme
Working hours for course delivery will be after school and early evening, however preparation and administration hours will be flexible. There will also be a requirement to travel to promote and engage children and families. The initial course locations are based in Trowbridge, Chippenham, Salisbury and a roaming team that will be delivering in multi locations.
You will be expected to demonstrate the full range of competencies of a Council officer in a rapidly changing, performance driven environment in line with the Councils behaviour framework.
You must hold a current, valid driving licence and have a vehicle available for work purposes.
